Childhood Sexual Abuse Statute of Limitations Extended in Some Cases (Public Act 19-16)

The Connecticut Legislature took a step in line with the wishes of victims in easing the statute of limitations on childhood sexual exploitation, assault and abuse victims.

The changes are as follows:

1. If there has been a criminal conviction of sexual assault, there is no statute of limitations in a civil action
2. For sexual assaults after Oct 1, 2019 the victim has until their 51^st birthday to bring a civil suitIn all other cases the law remains the same, and the victim has until their 48^th birthday to bring a civil suitIf you have a question about whether you have legal grounds to sue for childhood sexual  assault, abuse or exploitation call the attorneys at the Reinken Law Firm.
